The Oakwood Cemetery Association announces its annual Wreaths Across America remembrance ceremony and wreath sale. Open to the public, the ceremony will be held at noon on Saturday, Dec. 17, in the historic Oakwood Cemetery at the Veterans Garden, 763 Portage Road, Niagara Falls. Free, on-site parking will be available, as will light refreshments.

This is a moment in time to remember loved ones and fallen heroes; honor those who serve in all branches of the U.S. military; and teach children about the sacrifice made by veterans and their families to preserve freedom.

The gathering starts at 11:30 a.m. inside the Oakwood Cemetery gate. To coordinate with Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C., the ceremony at Oakwood will begin promptly at noon. Light refreshments to follow in Oakwood House. Guests are encouraged to dress as weather conditions allow. The ceremony takes about 30 minutes.

Wreaths are on sale, now, for $15 each, with $5 of each sale used to maintain the Oakwood Cemetery Veterans' Garden, as well as gravesites of those veterans who served in all branches of the military (going back to the Civil War). Volunteers are invited to help place wreaths throughout Oakwood. Corporate and community donors are welcome.

To order wreaths or for more information, contact Tim Baxter at 716-284-5131 or visit www.myoakwoodcemetery.com.
