Niagara County Community College will host its annual Veterans Day ceremony at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, at NCCC's Veterans Memorial Park, 3111 Saunders Settlement Road, Sanborn.

The annual ceremony will include opening remarks by NCCC President James P. Klyczek. The keynote speaker will be Niagara County resident Lt. Col. Andrea Pitruzzella, a member of the Air Force Reserve assigned to the 914th Airlift Wing in Niagara Falls.

Pitruzzella joined the Air Force in 1981 and served 16 years as an enlisted member before being commissioned as an officer in 1997. She served four years of active duty and, in 1986, joined the Air National Guard, where she served for 23 years prior to joining the Air Force Reserve in 2009. During her time in service, Pitruzzella was deployed to the Air Force Mortuary Affairs Operation at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware and served as the chief of public affairs.

Speaking on behalf of student veterans will be Kymberly Cochran, enrolled in the NCCC liberal arts program and also working on her bachelor's degree in nursing. She is vice president of the Student Veteran Association and an active member of the Student Nurses Association. Kymberly served in the U.S. Army in the reserves as a light-wheeled mechanic prior to going active duty as a combat medic.

Members of the Niagara Falls Air Base Honor Guard will once again participate in the ceremony.

The Veterans Day ceremony is open to the public. Refreshments will be served immediately after the ceremony in the administration building lobby.
