A lifelong resident of Youngstown, Miss Mary Joan A. Hannah passed away at her home on May 26, 2016.
Miss Hannah enjoyed a 35-year career as a math teacher for the Lewiston-Porter Central Schools, where her reputation for excellence was legendary. After retirement, she delivered Meals on Wheels for the Niagara County Department of the Aging for many years.
She was an active member of St. John's Episcopal Church, serving on vestry and altar guild. An avid bridge player, she played weekly with various community groups. Her passions included collecting Annalee dolls and "everything owl."
Survivors include her brothers, Dr. Robert W. (late Barbara) Hannah of Naples, Florida, and Dr. Arthur J. (Judith) Hannah Sr. of Youngstown; nephews, Matthew (Monica) Hannah, John (Darci) Hannah, Steven (Tina) Hannah, "Rick" (Meredith) Hannah and A.J. Hannah Jr.; and nieces Becky (Scott) Specht, Clare (Merrill) Krabbel and Mary Heather (James) West; and many great nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Hardison Funeral Home, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville, from 4-7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, in St. John Episcopal Church, Main and Chestnut streets, Youngstown.
