Cardiology Services Director Melissa Rackmil, RN, BSN, left, discusses the placement of a new GE Healthcare Ventri nuclear cardiology imaging camera in The Heart Center of Niagara at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center with Purchasing Director Chris Salada, Chief of Cardiology Sachin Wadhawan, M.D., and Facilities Management Director Steve Lewis, right. The new camera will equip a second cardiac stress-testing lab at the heart center and is part of a $320,000 expansion that will include expanded echocardiography capabilities.

The construction is being coordinated with two other projects at the downtown medical center: a $2.2 million cardiac catheterization laboratory that is a collaborative effort with Catholic Health, Erie County Medical Center Corp. and Kaleida Health, and a $4.3 million inpatient cardiac/stroke care unit. Taken together, they will support a "Full Circle of Heart Care" program for Niagara County that begins with education and prevention, actively seeks treatment breakthroughs and promotes best practices in care.
