Niagara University's Army ROTC program placed in the top 10 percent on the National Accessions Outcome Metrics List, based on results released Oct. 20 by the U.S. Army Cadet Command.

The Outcome Metrics List ranks each of the country's nearly 5,500 Army senior cadets based on several variables. Based on a formula, each ROTC cadet is scored on academic performance, performance in a national leadership course and leadership dimensions, observations made by ROTC instructor cadre, and physical fitness test scores. Every cadet in the nation is then ranked to determine in which military component and branch he or she will be placed.

NU's Purple Eagle Battalion finished 23 out of 275 programs nationally in terms of average Outcome Metrics List score, placing it in the top 8.5 percent. Niagara's score of 57.96 placed it fourth in the second Brigade, ahead of every institution of higher education in New York state.
