Andres: Helping residents find jobs, local companies find workers is a 'top county mission'

Donald Jablonski has announced Niagara County's annual fall career fair - a county-run tool designed to help pair local jobseekers with employers looking for quality workers - will be held Wednesday. Jablonski is the new director of the county's employment and training department.

Sixty-five businesses will be on-hand, hoping to fill positions in diverse industries.

"Providing local residents seeking work or seeking to find new work opportunities is a big part of our agency's mission, but the job fair is unique in that it puts potential employers and potential employees in the same room, and gives them the opportunity to interact in ways the traditional job application process just doesn't," Jablonski said.

County Legislator Rich Andres, R-North Tonawanda, echoed Jablonski's observation.

"We're giving companies a chance to meet potential job candidates up-front, and giving those candidates a chance to ask frank questions about the jobs that are available, and to gain insights into the corporate climate," he said. "This is county government's best effort to both help our county residents that are seeking work to find it, and to help our employers lower the costs associated with searching for candidates to fill jobs."

The fair runs from 1-3:30 p.m. at the Sheraton Four Points, 7001 Buffalo Ave., Niagara Falls.
