The City of Niagara Falls will proudly open Art Alley NF (425 Third St.) at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22. The innovative space combines a pedestrian walkway to public parking with a public art gallery, including 19 murals.

"Through collaboration, we created a special place, full of functional beauty," said Seth Piccirillo, director of the Niagara Falls Community Development Department.

The project was created by Piccirillo's group in partnership with the city's engineering and public works departments, and curated by Rob Lynch, a Niagara Falls High School art teacher and lifelong Niagara Falls resident.

"I want Art Alley be viewed as a beacon of positivity, creativity and optimism in a city in the midst of a major resurgence," Lynch said. "Niagara Falls has what the creative class craves. It's a blank canvas filled with some of the most inspiring views on the planet, incredibly affordable cost of living, and proximity to major art centers like Toronto, Buffalo and Rochester. Come, be part of the rebirth. Make your mark and plant a seed that will inspire others to do the same."

Saturday's opening will feature live music by The Brothers of Invention from 2-5 p.m. in Art Alley, as well as a 12 Gates Brewery event with live music by Ronnie Davis at Power City Eatery from 1-4 p.m., a Cool Art + Hot Cider event at 24 Below Gallery & Café from 1-3 p.m., and an early opening at Third Street Tap Room.

Free parking is available in the Fourth Street parking lot, adjacent to the Art Alley, and accessible by Fourth Street, Niagara Street and Ferry Avenue.

Featured artists include Jonathan Rogers, Rob Lynch, Fritz Proctor IV, Kyle Baillargeon, Tricia Butski, AJ Fries, Brandon Celi, Tom Holt, Chuck Tingley, TamMarie Mitravitch, Madonna Pannell, Hussalonia, Rick Nickel, Dave Buck, Yames, OGRE, Tom Proctor, Fritz Proctor III, Dan Lusk, Phil Mohr and Tom Lowe.
