Anne Marie DiMino-Hepfer to be honored with CAM Legacy award

The Castellani Art Museum of Niagara University's 14th annual gala, "Art Moves," will take place at The Conference & Event Center Niagara Falls on Saturday, Oct. 22. Carla Castellani and Don McLean are serving as this year's honorary chairs.

At the event, the museum will present the "CAM Legacy Award," to honor an individual for contributions to sustaining the legacy of Armand and Eleanor Castellani. The first recipient of the award is Anne Marie DiMino-Hepfer.

Hepfer has been a longtime member of the CAM gala committee, and last year served as committee chair. Through her leadership, the gala raised a record amount to support art education programs that benefit the entire community. Known throughout the community for her volunteer work and philanthropy, Hepfer has worked on behalf of the Boys and Girls Club of Niagara Falls, Mount St. Mary's Hospital and several other organizations, in addition to the CAM.

Hepfer's parents, Alphonso and Catherine DiMino, were among the founding families of the Castellani Art Museum.

Proceeds from the gala benefit educational programs for people of all ages, but especially children and families.

Museum Director Kate Koperski said, "Studies show that young people who participate in the arts are four times more likely to be recognized for academic achievement than children who do not have access to the arts. By supporting our museum's education programming, you are investing in Niagara County's future."

Gala proceeds support "Art Express" family workshops, school tours, art supplies, teaching artist fees and scholarships to the "kids 'n arts" summer camp for children in need.

The gala's theme, "Art Moves," reflects the museum's hosting the event at the Conference & Event Center for the first time. In its new location, the event will continue to feature a cocktail hour and seated dinner. Silent and live auction items will include original art, fine dining and hotel certificates, and jewelry. The live auction will feature a Toronto travel package (including overnight accommodation at the Intercontinental Hotel, dinner for two at Scaramouche and tickets to a Toronto Symphony Pops concert); tickets to a Syracuse vs. Duke basketball game and a night at the Marriott; a Yeti Cooler package; and original artworks by Leroy Neiman and Gisela Colon.

Christopher Blake will serve as auctioneer.

Tickets are $150 per person, $175 per patron, and may be reserved online at www.castellaniartmuseum.org, or by calling Susan Clements at 716-286-8201. The deadline for reservations is Oct. 14.
