Electric Lights Parade slated for Nov. 5

Fri, Sep 23rd 2016 11:25 am

Registration for participants will be open until Oct. 29

The 12th annual Electric Lights Parade in the Town of Niagara will kick off at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5, from 4th Avenue to the K-Mart on Military Road.

The parade is organized and presented by the Town of Niagara and the Town of Niagara Business and Professional Association Inc., and is sponsored by Republic Services (Allied Waste Industries of Niagara Falls).

The parade drew thousands of spectators last year. It features bands, floats and community groups, as well as an appearance from Santa Claus, who will be on hand to greet the crowd.

As in past years, a food drive will be part of this year's event. Volunteers will gather non-perishable food donations from parade spectators for local soup kitchens.

Parade organizers encourage participants, who wish to make donations to local food pantries, to notify the pantries they are donating on behalf of the Niagara Electric Lights Parade.

Those who wish to participate in the parade can register until Monday, Oct. 29.

Applications are available online at www.tnbpa.com or in person at the Town of Niagara Town Clerk's office.
