On Saturday, Sept. 17, and Sunday, Sept. 18, the Aquarium of Niagara will present two family-friendly events.
"Beach Sweep" takes place from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Fort Niagara State Park in Youngstown. Meet volunteers for the 30th annual "Beach Sweep" and help clean area beaches.
"Your enthusiasm, support and help make a big difference," educator Katherine Jones said. "Every small conservation step promotes global changes, and our community's help will definitely make an impact in keeping our Great Lakes, and even our oceans, more healthy environments for all animals."
Light snacks will be available to all volunteers.
On Sunday, participate in hands-on fishing from noon until 2 p.m. at the Aquarium of Niagara, 701 Whirlpool St., Niagara Falls.
The Great Lakes is a natural treasure for fishing enthusiasts. "When you attend our new hands-on fishing event, you'll learn about the rules and regulations for this great sport, and you'll see fish native to our Great Lakes right here on display," educator Lee Hales said. "Join us at the aquarium to learn how you can enjoy this great pastime and participate in hands-on demonstrations. We guarantee you'll be hooked."
