Old Fort Niagara will welcome interpretive staff members from Colonial Fort Michilimackinac, who will arrive this afternoon to observe and join OFN staff in presenting daily programming later today through Thursday morning.

Portraying the British 8th (King's) Regiment, the same as OFN staff, they will assist with the 11:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. mortar or artillery firings, hourly musket demonstrations, and exhibiting of soldiers' life activities and cooking from the American Revolution period.

Old Fort Niagara and Fort Michilimackinac staffs are working to develop a collaborative relationship where both groups can exchange ideas and grow their respective interpretive programs.

Fort Michilimackinac is a reconstructed 18th century fort and fur-trading village located along the shores of the Strait of Mackinac in northern Michigan. It shares a similar colonial history and strategic military location to Old Fort Niagara.

Old Fort Niagara is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily through Aug. 31, and then 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. starting Sept. 1. Admissions end 30 minutes before the closing time. All programming is included with regular admission.
