The Village of Lewiston Recreation Department is sponsoring a recreation program fair during the community yard sale on Saturday, Sep. 17, at the Red Brick Municipal Building, 145 N. Fourth St.
The Recreation Department will offer program registration for its fall/winter programs and events, while also giving demonstrations of some of its most popular programs. This event gives children and adults alike an opportunity to view and experience program offerings.
Registration will take place from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the gymnasium. During that time, participants will have the opportunity to tour the facility, and enjoy refreshments and entertainment. Demonstrations will be offered and program sign-ups will be available for the following:
•Pickleball - 10-11:30 a.m.: Pickleball is one of the fastest-growing games across the country in recreation. It plays like table tennis on a larger scale.
•Basketball - noon until 2 p.m.: Come and shoot around or join a pick-up game. From pick-up games to leagues, the Red Brick is known for its basketball offerings. Both youth and adult league registration will take place.
•Arts and crafts programming - 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Create a painting or a craft in the arts and crafts room, and/or sign-up for future arts and crafts programming.
•Fitness center: Take a look at the new equipment in the fitness center and weight room. The use of these facilities is free to the community.
Entertainment will include Face Painting by Bailey from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., and Bounce-N-Around (bounce house) from noon until 2 p.m. Free refreshments will be offered from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
The recreation program fair will be held rain or shine. In case of inclement weather, as many events will move inside as possible. All events are free and open to residents and non-residents.
The community yard sale takes place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the grounds of the Red Brick. The public can rent a space to sell items no longer wanted. Spaces will be $15 for a 10-foot-by-10-foot space. ($20 after Sept. 12). Reserve a space by calling 716-754-1990 or online at www.villageoflewiston.net.
