Assemblyman John D. Ceretto announced he secured an additional $500,000 in funding for the Buffalo Avenue rehabilitation project in Niagara Falls. The money will go toward phase two of the project, which stretches from 65th Street to the LaSalle Expressway off-ramp.

Phase two of the project will include pavement milling and overlay, new curb and driveway aprons between 68th and 86th streets, sidewalk repairs, additional signage and shared use lanes, as well as landscaping improvements.

"The Buffalo Avenue project is a game changer for Niagara Falls," Ceretto said. "By fixing up downtown, we can both beautify the neighborhood and boost economic activity for our local businesses."

Niagara Falls Mayor Paul Dyster said, "The funding announced by Assemblyman Ceretto today will have a transformative impact along a stretch of Buffalo Avenue that has long been in need of repair. Phase two will provide a reconstructed roadway, connecting residents and visitors alike with our thriving neighborhoods and growing business district right along the upper Niagara River.

"After facing setbacks due to federal and state transportation funding restrictions, we are grateful to Assemblyman Ceretto and our partners in federal government for their tireless advocacy on behalf of the City of Niagara Falls and its residents."

Niagara Falls also received supplemental funding for the renovations through a New York State Transportation Enhancement Program (TEP) grant in October 2014.
