Niagara County Peach Festival to accept 2015 ride tickets

Sat, Aug 13th 2016 07:00 am

Niagara County Peach Festival Chairman Alan Hastings has announced ride tickets purchased for the 2015 festival will be honored at this year's event.

Rain and inclement weather disrupted last year's Peach Festival. It also curtailed ridership to the many attractions provided by Amusements of America. As a result, Lewiston Kiwanis organizers made the decision that tickets purchased in 2015 will be honored at this year's festival, Sept. 9-11 at Academy Park in Lewiston.

Amusements of America will again serve as ride operator at the Peach Festival, offering thrill rides, as well as family and kiddie rides. Kiwanis reports Amusements of America will operate 44 attractions, making it the largest midway in Niagara County.

Advance ride tickets are now available at 40 locations throughout the greater-Lewiston area, and at a 50 percent discount. Ticket locations can be found on the Peach Festival website at www.lewistonpeachfestival.org/ride-tickets.

•Peach Festival Parade Chairman Jerry Wolfgang is also seeking units for this year's parade, which will take place starting at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, on Center Street. Any units wishing to march in this year's parade should contact Wolfgang for an entry form at 754-7745. Applicants will be accepted until Monday Aug. 29.

The annual parade will feature more than $2,000 in cash prizes and trophies awarded to the outstanding school bands, majorette units, fire companies, floats, drill teams and color guards.
