Pegula Sports and Entertainment, together with the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library System, announces the creation of the One Buffalo Community Library Card. The initiative is an expansion of recent commitments the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres organizations have made to community-wide reading programs. It aims to show sports and literacy go hand in hand.

"Supporting the One Buffalo Community Library Card gives the Bills and Sabres another way to connect to our passionate fans," said Brent Rossi, PSE's executive vice president of marketing and brand strategy. "PSE's goal in One Buffalo is to take a leading role in promoting community initiatives that make a positive impact on Western New York. This campaign will encourage young students to obtain library cards. It will promote educational living, and it will create another opportunity for the public to show pride in their community through the use of these cards."

The One Buffalo Community Library Card will be free and available at all of the county's 37 local libraries beginning in late September. It can be used at any library branch, online, and at the new "Library on Wheels" bookmobile. To view a list of library locations, CLICK HERE.

The Buffalo & Erie County Public Libraries are vibrant community spaces filled with information, resources and events that encourage reading, creativity and discovery. All libraries have free Wi-Fi, as well as books, eBooks, DVDs, CDs, downloadable music, magazines, story times, speakers, movies, special collections and career, business, health, wellness, homework and genealogy resources. Last year, there were more than 3.1 million library visits with 7 million items borrowed.

"We are all winners with the One Buffalo Community Library Card," said Library Director Mary Jean Jakubowski. "No matter which team you root for, families, schools, youth organizations, sports teams and fans are encouraged to visit a local library, complete a quick application and get a library card, so you can take advantage of the numerous free services and resources available."

The One Buffalo Community Library Card furthers Pegula Sports and Entertainment's commitment to literacy in the Western New York community. Since the 2013-14 season, the Buffalo Sabres have worked with the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library System on a communitywide winter reading program, an incentive-based initiative that promotes youth literacy through reading goals and prizes. It has included highly popular reading events at the downtown Central Branch, featuring Sabres players. The Sabres Foundation has been involved in supporting summer reading initiatives, while the Buffalo Bills have supported additional fundraising events.
