Once again, Lewiston Council on the Arts will join the festivities at the Olde Sanborn Days Arts & Crafts Show. The 26th annual event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 9, and from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday, July 10.

Enjoy the charm of this old-fashioned country fair and craft show, which has plenty of activities and demonstrations for the entire family.

The LCA is proud to partner with the Rotary Club of Niagara County Central to present a weekend residency for chainsaw sculptor Aya Blaine. She hails from Japan and is a member of the "Chainsaw Chix," an international team of female performance carvers affiliated with "Masters of the Chainsaw." She has won critical acclaim for her beautiful carving style in numerous competitions.

Starting with a 3-foot-tall log, Blaine brings her sculptures to life as the chainsaw roars and sawdust flies. She's known all over the world now because her image is featured on many Stihl Chainsaw posters and ads. When asked how she got started in this profession, she simply said she just "picked up the chainsaw" one day.

Blaine, a master carver, will complete her masterpieces to the delight of onlookers during the two days of the festivities, which are sponsored by the Rotary Club of Niagara County-Central.

Olde Sanborn Days is free to the public. It is located at the Sanborn Firehall grounds on Route 429, near the intersection of Route 31.
