Joseph Pillittere Jr. will again honor his late mother, Joan, by giving away 500 of The Silo Restaurant's hot dogs from 11 a.m. until gone on Sunday, June 26.
This year, Pillittere is also offering a chance for participants to win one of four butterfly bracelets and one diamond butterfly necklace in honor of his mother. Firth's Jewelers provided the jewelry at a discounted price for this event.
These necklaces represent his mother's love of life and extreme kindness. Every person who attends the event will receive a ticket for a chance to win one of these keepsakes.
Niagara Hospice will also be in attendance this year to support this event.
As in years past, The Silo owner Alan Hastings is lending his support to Pillittere, providing hot dogs at cost, as well as staff and setup. The Silo will match Pillittere's generosity by offering complimentary soft drinks.
In addition to his mother, Pillittere and his family also lost their younger sister and sister-in-law to cancer in 2009 and 2014, respectively. This event will remember them, as well.
"That's what my mother would have wanted," Pillittere said.
Joan was an avid, avid hot dog lover.
