87 Lockport C.A.R.E.S. volunteers receive awards

Lockport CARES held a volunteer recognition and fire safety in-service for all current shift volunteers on May 21 at the shelter located at 188 Genesee St.

Three layers of awards were given:

•Diamond - a polar fleece for long-term, hard-core volunteers with hundreds of shifts and thousands of hours;

•Platinum - a hoodie for hard-core, long-term volunteers; and

Gold - s travel mug for volunteers with less longevity.

There were 34 diamond, 19 Platinum and 34 gold awards.

Awards were sponsored by The Service Collaborative of Western New York and Volunteer WNY (volunteerwny.org).

Lockport C.A.R.E.S. receives donation from Charles Upson School children

Pictured are members of Charles Upson School in the parking lot of the CARES campus on Genesee Street with bags and boxes of donated goods. Every Friday, the class collects nonperishable food for the local emergency homeless shelter.
