City of North Tonawanda Mayor Arthur G. Pappas, North Tonawanda Police Chief William R. Hall and members of the city's Common Council gathered recently to showcase new vehicles purchased for the North Tonawanda Auxiliary Police.

The Common Council budgeted a total of $75,000 for the three 2016 Chevrolet Impalas.

"I am very happy to announce the addition of these vehicles to the Auxiliary Police," Pappas said. "The city appreciates our volunteers who take the time out of their day to assist our police in times of additional need."

Duties of the Auxiliary Police include weekend road patrols, parades and festivals, which require additional coverage.

The entire volunteer organization, totaling 18 in number, is comprised of men and women who attained 8,000 hours of community service last year.
