Fri, Apr 29th 2016 02:45 pm

The Rt. Rev. Dr. William Franklin, bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Western New York, will make its biannual visit to St. Martin-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church this coming Sunday, May 1. He will preach and preside at the 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. worship services. At 10 a.m., he will officiate at confirmation.

Franklin became bishop in April 2011 and will be starting his sixth year as bishop when he visits St. Martin's Church. With a Ph.D. in church history from Harvard University, he spent much of his life in teaching and administration at colleges and seminaries.

Among his special interests are ecumenical relationships. Over the past five years, Franklin has been especially keen on fostering collegial relationships with the Roman Catholic Diocese of Buffalo. This past Sunday, April 24, he and Bishop Richard Malone of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Buffalo were on the radio together, addressing a host of issues that impact all the people of Western New York.

All are welcome at St. Martin's this Sunday. The church is located at 2587 Baseline Road. For more information, call 716-773-3335.
