Ransomville Speedway management has decided to cancel the annual test, tune and time, which was scheduled for tonight, as the grounds are simply not ready.

"The weather we endured at the beginning of the month really hurt us and put us behind," General Manager Tana Robinson said. "As many people are aware, we resurfaced the track recently. In an effort to give the drivers and fans the best surface possible, we have elected to cancel (tonight) and concentrate on the opener next Friday. We thank everyone for their understanding and continued patience as we strive to make the Big R the best it can be."

On Friday, May 6, VP Small Engine Fuels will present the 59th season opener, featuring a full card of Krown Undercoating Modifieds, Investors Services Sportsman, Ki-Po Chevrolet Street Stocks, Gippsters Collision 4 Bangers and Van Raine Construction Novice Sportsman. Grandstand admission will be $12 for adults, $10 for student/senior citizens and $6 for kids 8-12 (7 and under are always admitted free). Pit admission will be $22 for members and $27 for non-members.

The improvements to the Big R continue and will be noticeable when fans, drivers, sponsors and crew arrive next week. From the new signage out front to the new driveway surface, people will be greeted with a sense of great improvement to the grounds, Robinson said. Four new VIP suites have been constructed in addition to the new office/merchandise stand.

Continued upgrades are planned over the next few seasons in an attempt to take Ransomville Speedway to the next level.
