Fri, Apr 1st 2016 10:25 pm

The United States National Sled Hockey Team will face off against Team Canada at 5 p.m. Saturday (April 2) in the gold medal final of the 2016 Ice Sledge Hockey Pan Pacific Championships.

Tickets for the championship game cost $5 and are available by calling or visiting the Sabres ticket office (888-GO-SABRES) between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday, or by visiting the HARBORCENTER ticket kiosk located on level seven beginning at noon.

Canada carries the tournament's top seed into the gold medal final after posting a 3-0 record in the preliminary round, which included a 2-1 win over Team USA Wednesday night. The Americans bounced back with an 8-0 win over South Korea Friday to clinch a spot in Saturday's championship.

This is the third major international tournament at HARBORCENTER, and the third time the U.S. and Canada will meet in the gold medal final. Team USA topped Canada in overtime of the final at the 2015 IIHF Under-18 Women's World Championship in January 2015. The U.S. National Sled Hockey Team then defeated Canada by a 3-0 margin in the final of the 2015 IPC World Ice Sledge Hockey Championships last May.

Saturday's gold medal final will be preceded by a bronze medal matchup between South Korea and Team Pan Pacific at 1 p.m. Complete information is available on the tournament's website: www.paralympic.org/Buffalo-2016.
