Zonta Club of Grand Island Board Member Joanne Kud, right, presents yellow roses to Cornerstone Manor Compliance Manager Anna Isom, left, and Director Annette Slaughter, center, for distribution to the women who live at the homeless shelter in Buffalo. The roses were for Zonta's annual Yellow Rose Day, March 8.
Kud said the presentation honored the residents' courage and perseverance on their road to recovery from domestic abuse and other challenges, as part of Zonta's pledge to end domestic violence against women. A special card attached to each rose read, "A Yellow Rose is a 'promise of a new beginning.' This is our wish for you."
