Western New York Independent Living, Inc. welcomes those seeking employment to attend a community job fair running from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Thursday March 10. The event will take place in WNYIL's fully accessible facility at 3108 Main St. The main entrance from the off-street parking lot is behind the sandwich shop Jim's Steakout, between LaSalle and Highgate avenues in Buffalo's University District, about two blocks north of the LaSalle Metro Bus and Light Rail Station.

The coordinator of the event, PEER Connection Employment Specialist Charles Lloyd, encouraged applicants to "dress for success" and bring plenty of resumes and cover letters to leave with the firms, all of which are equal employment opportunity companies.

As employer recruitment is continuing, the full list has not been finalized, but a sampling includes:

  • Home Depot
  • Community Services for the Developmentally Disabled
  • Cazenovia Recovery Systems
  • Buffalo Public Schools' adult education division (to offer work training)
  • Bryant & Stratton College

Anyone who wants further information, or to RSVP for the event, should contact Charles Lloyd at 716-836-0822, ext. 164, or Shannon Bond at 716-836-0822, ext. 170.

Mental Health PEER Connection is a member of the Western New York Independent Living Inc. family of agencies that offers an expanding array of services to aid individuals with disabilities to take control of their own lives.
