Jeannine D. Suk has been appointed as Niagara University's new director of counseling services. She joins NU on Feb. 29.

In her new position, Suk will be responsible for the planning, development and supervision of the office of counseling services, which makes professional mental health counseling services available to meet the personal wellness, developmental, preventative and remedial counseling needs of university students.

A New York state-licensed mental health counselor, Suk possesses a bachelor's degree in psychology from SUNY Fredonia and a master's degree in counseling psychology from West Virginia University. The Amherst resident is also a national certified counselor and a certified mental health counselor.

"Jeannine has significant experience in responding to both developmental and complex mental health concerns and in developing strong clinical supervisory skills. We are confident that Jeannine's expertise, experience and personality suit our campus community very well, especially our students and the members of the office of counseling services," said Dr. Kevin Hearn, NU's vice president for enrollment management and student affairs.

Suk comes to Niagara after spending nearly 13 years as director of counseling services for Medaille College in Buffalo. She also taught undergraduate and graduate courses at Medaille.
