Conversation with the bishops

Fri, Feb 19th 2016 10:20 am

"Conversation with Two Bishops: A Discover Sunday Event," will be co-hosted by Bishop Richard J. Malone of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Buffalo and Bishop R. William Franklin of the Episcopal Diocese of Western New York, at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21, at St. Joseph Cathedral, 50 Franklin St., in downtown Buffalo.

The bishops will discuss faith, their churches, and their ongoing vision for the economic recovery and other initiatives for Western New York.

Previously the bishops have co-authored two joint pastoral letters, revealing a vision common to both denominations. Their first letter issued in December 2014, is believed to be the first joint pastoral letter in the history of the two dioceses and raises awareness about the challenge of income disparity along racial and ethnic lines. The second letter, issued in June 2015, offers concrete suggestions for change.

Bishops Malone and Franklin also held a joint meeting of clergy serving the City of Buffalo and have together, been a part of several public events and announcements.

A reception to follow at St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral, 128 Pearl St., Buffalo. To register, visit www.bit.ly/pastoralconversation.
