The Buffalo Sabres Green Team today announced it will partner with the Amanda Hansen Foundation and hold a carbon monoxide detector giveaway in the main atrium of First Niagara Center from noon to 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 15 Parking for the event will be available in the ramp next to the arena.

The giveaway comes on the heels of a carbon monoxide detector drive the two organizations hosted Jan. 16. A total of 1,500 carbon monoxide detectors will be passed out free of charge at the event courtesy of the Buffalo Sabres Green Team and the Amanda Hansen Foundation. The giveaway is designed for families and individuals who do not have a carbon monoxide detector in their homes. Recipients of the detectors will be asked to fill out a brief survey.

"We were so overwhelmed by how many people wanted to help our foundation and our mission to see that no one loses a loved one again to CO poisoning," said Ken Hansen, president of the Amanda Hansen Foundation. "We just want to get these CO detectors in as many hands as we can to ensure that everyone is safe from carbon monoxide."

The Buffalo Sabres and the Amanda Hansen Foundation would like to thank National Fuel, JW Danforth, First Alert, Lowes and the Niagara Frontier Automobile Dealers Association for their help with the carbon monoxide detector giveaway.

The Amanda Hansen Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that was founded in 2010 after Ken Hansen and his wife, Kim, lost their only daughter, Amanda, to carbon monoxide poisoning. In 2009, Amanda slept over a friend's house that had high levels of CO in the home. The house did not have a CO detector and Amanda's life was taken that very next morning.

The Buffalo Sabres are dedicated to the sustainability of the environment in Western New York and Southern Ontario through the "Blue & Gold Make Green Initiative." The organization is committed to creating programming to help Sabres fans reduce their environmental footprint and, at the same time, educate them on conservation issues, teaching fans how to be greener, and directing them to additional resources where they can learn more about environmental issues.

The Buffalo Sabres Green Team is presented by National Fuel's conservation incentive program and proudly supported by green partner Modern Recycling.
