The New York State Department of Transportation has announced a bridge painting project is scheduled to begin Monday, Feb. 15, on the Joseph A. Scapelliti Memorial Bridge (Exchange Street) over the Erie Canal in the City of Lockport. At 9 a.m., the Exchange Street Bridge will be closed to all traffic. This closure will remain in effect for six to eight weeks.

This work is weather sensitive and will be delayed in the event of inclement weather.

Motorists are reminded fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual's driver's license.
