Nussbaumer & Clarke Inc., one of the region's oldest engineering and land surveying firms, has recently realigned its top executives and transferred ownership. The firm, which has been owned by Michael J. Sendor, PLS, president, and Michael F. Smith, PE, CEO, engineering, for over 15 years, began in 1933 when Newell Nussbaumer and Irving Clarke founded the firm.

Sendor stepped down from his day-to-day duties, but will continue to support the firm's business development in a consulting role. Smith will assume the duties of president. Joining Smith are new owners Michael J. Borowiak, PLS, and Michael T. Marino, PE. Borowiak assumes the position of CEO, land surveying; and Marino becomes CEO, engineering.

With this realignment, the firm reiterates its dedication to its core mission to remain a locally owned and operated professional services corporation.

Smith resides in East Aurora and has 36 years of experience working on various design projects. He has also managed and directed the firm's growing construction services division. Borowiak, an Orchard Park resident, has been with the firm since 1987, working as a field technician; land surveying manager; and most recently as vice president of land surveying and land development. Marino, who joined the firm this past summer, resides in Wheatfield and has 19 years of experience with a heavy concentration in water and municipal design engineering services. He also serves as engineer for the Village of Lewiston.

The firm operates five offices throughout Western New York, including one at 84 Sweeney St. (in the Gateway building), North Tonawanda, which has 80 employees. While the firm is best known for its municipal engineering and land surveying, it is well qualified to provide smart design solutions for civil, structural, sanitary, mechanical, electrical, heating, plumbing, transportation, land development, site planning, traffic planning and environmental engineering services.
