Lenten Luncheons to begin Feb. 17

The Grand Island Ministerium will present the 2016 Lenten Luncheons each Wednesday at Trinity United Methodist Church, 2100 Whitehaven Road. All are welcome to attend.

The general theme of the luncheons this year is "Do not fear."

Each luncheon will begin at noon with a speaker to follow at 12:30 p.m. The cost is $5.

Luncheon speakers, topics and menu

Feb. 17

"Fear/anxiety of being discovered for who I really am," by the Rev. Tom Roman of St. Stephen R.C. Church. Serving: stuffed shells with meatballs, chef salad and dessert.

Feb. 24

"Fear/anxiety about the future," by the Rev. Dr. Sung Ho Lee of Trinity United Methodist Church. Serving: pulled pork sandwiches, coleslaw, chips and dessert.

March 2

"Fear/anxiety in the face of death," by the Rev. Earle King of St. Martin-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church. Serving: sloppy joes with chef/fruit salads and pastries.

March 9

"Fear/anxiety about change," by Vicar David Sivecz of St. Timothy Evangelical Lutheran Church. Serving: beef on weck, chef salad and dessert.

March 16

"Fear/anxiety of not having enough (that God will not provide)," by the Rev. Carla Kline, Island Presbyterian Church. Serving: turkey salad.
