Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard has announced the Erie County Sheriff's Office will add 16 additional shifts throughout the coming week dedicated to impaired driving enforcement.

The additional shifts began Tuesday and will run throughout the weekend and into the following week. The added impaired driving patrols will focus on different areas of the county at various times of the day and deputies will demonstrate a zero tolerance policy toward any reckless motor vehicle operation, the sheriff's office said.

The additional patrols will be paid for by Erie County STOP DWI funding.
