Children can celebrate the 310th birthday of American patriot Benjamin Franklin with a special program Monday, Jan. 18, at The History Center (Niagara County Historical Society), 215 Niagara St., Lockport. A half-day of activities from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. is designed to make history fun.

Kids ages 7-12 can learn about the things used today that were invented by Franklin; watch a film about his life; try their hand at playing an armonica, a musical instrument Franklin invented; make a 2016 calendar with quotes from Franklin for each month; and play the game "To Tell the Truth" to see who is the real Ben Franklin.

The cost of the program is $10 per child. A snack will be provided.

Advance reservations are required. Parents are encouraged to leave their children for the duration of the program.

Call the History Center at 716-434-7433 for reservations or more information, or email Education Coordinator Ann Marie Linnabery at [email protected].
