'Healthy is Delicious' author Kathleen Downey returns to Lewiston

Kathleen Downey, a former Niagara Falls resident and author of "Healthy is Delicious," will appear for a free book signing from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, at Mangia Café, 621 Center St., Lewiston.

Downey, a health and nutrition expert, will also present a lecture and cooking demonstration at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 28, at Mangia. She will present the benefits of nut milk and explain the promotion of a healthy thyroid and digestion fructose malabsorption. The cooking demonstration will focus on the preparation of nut cheese. The cost of the lecture and cooking demonstration is $65.

A dedicated alternative health care practitioner, Downey has helped thousands of people over the past 20 years after healing herself of Lyme disease and cancer. Her prescription for health started with detoxing both body and mind. Eating right and engaging in deep healing with self-empowerment through meditation is where Downey began to turn around illnesses that had her bedridden.

She started her journey with cooking when she was 8 years old for her family of nine in Niagara Falls. She knows her way around a kitchen, and creating great-tasting, inflammation-free foods is her forte.
