'Share the Harvest' on Niagara Wine Trail nets $12,000 for local organizations

The Niagara Wine Trail wineries partnered with local food banks and charitable organizations to ensure a bountiful holiday season for area residents in need. During the annual "Share the Bounty" event, held Nov. 13-15, participating Niagara Wine Trail wineries accepted nonperishable food items and/or monetary donations in exchange for wine tastings to benefit the food bank and/or nonprofit of their choice. 

More than 2,000 nonperishable food items were collected over the three-day event along with $12,000 in monetary donations.

Nonprofit organizations selected for this year's event included Hospice of Orleans County, Calvary Cupboard Food Pantry in Medina, WNY Heroes, Meals on Wheels, Asha Sanctuary of Newfane, the Newfane Food Pantry, Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome Association (RSDSA), Niagara Hospice, Save-A-Pet, Big, Big Table, The Salvation Army in Lockport, Response to Love Center, St. John's Outreach in Lockport, Lockport Meals on Wheels, Down Syndrome Association of Niagara Inc., Crohn's and Colitis Foundation, Food Link, Cambria Fire Co., Lakeview Animal Sanctuary in Sanborn, Niagara Hospice in Memory of Laura A. Seaver, Disabled American Veterans, Kendall Community Food Cupboard, Roswell Park (leukemia division), Barker Food Pantry, Wilson Community Food Pantry and Gasport Zion Lutheran Church food bank.

The Niagara Wine Trail and member wineries would like to thank all of the participants who visited the trail during the annual "Share the Bounty" event.
