The Niagara Arts and Cultural Center invites you to check out a wide array of holiday gift ideas at its Artists and Friends Exhibition, Saturday Dec. 5, to Sunday Jan. 10, at the NACC, 1201 Pine Ave., Niagara Falls.

Kelly Lang Buckley, director of development and marketing, reports the exhibition opens with the NACC's annual open house and artists' market, featuring the works of 30 to 40 local artists from 3 to 8 p.m. Dec. 5. That day, visitors will have the opportunity to experience all that is the NACC. Events include:

•An Artists' Market, from 3-6 p.m. Featured will be vendor sales of original artworks and crafts along with homemade and artisan products, made and sold by local artists and businesses.

•Open studios, from 3-6 p.m. Visitors have a rare opportunity to check out the workspaces of NACC artists and exhibitors. Featured among the more than four-dozen residents will be artists of all genres, authors, photographers, musicians, sculptors, dance instructors, carpentry and woodworkers, painters, doll makers, wearable art and fashions and more.

"This is a wonderful and rare opportunity to explore the building and meet our many artists in their own creative spaces," Buckley said.

She invites you to "see some great performances by local musicians, dancers and singers. Don't miss this chance to see where your favorite NACC artist's work is created!"

•The NACC Artists and Friends Exhibition opening, from 6-8 p.m. in the Main Gallery. Featured will be 75 original works reflecting various media and genres.

"The show will feature all genres of art by regional artists," Buckley said. This event will include a reception with cash awards presented for first-, second- and third-place honors by judges Justin Dahl, Laura Borneman and Kurt Von Voetsch. Visitors can enjoy wine servings from Third Street Liquors and Wines, hors d'oeuvres prepared by Tony Poletti of Marketside Restaurant, and music by Tracy Russell.

"Come join us for this awesome event," Buckley said.

She adds the NAAC has extended its call for art for this exhibition event to Nov. 30. It's "open to all artists and celebrates all original visual art of any medium, genre or artistic interpretation."

Entry fee is $30 for the first two pieces submitted and $10 for each additional piece submitted; no more than four pieces may be submitted. To enter, email [email protected].

Joyce & Gabrielli Construction, Third Street Liquors and Wines, The River Pub, Marketside Restaurant and Solidays Bar & Grille are sponsors.
