The Freudig Singers of Western New York will present "Magnificent Pie," a program of traditional and contemporary choral pieces suited to the holiday season, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 73 Adam St., Tonawanda; and again at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, at Blessed Trinity R.C. Church, 317 Leroy Ave., Buffalo.

The annual Freudig Christmas pie concerts are under the direction of music director Roland E. Martin. This year's edition offers a special treat: Samuel Scheidt's "Magnificat," written in 1622, which inserts German Christmas carols into the sacred text. The choral menu also includes such standards as Gerald Near's arrangement of "Ding-dong-ding," and a medley of songs from "How the Grinch Stole Christmas."

Following tradition, the concert concludes with a fresh baked pie reception for audience members, as well as a pie auction featuring signature pies prepared by many of the singers.

Tickets are $10 each in advance and at the door. Advance purchases for this concert are strongly recommended. For individual tickets, group sales and further information, contact Elizabeth Bailey Sands at 716-551-6870.
