Temporary exhibit on loan from 5 Gyres Institute

"Plastic Waters," a thought-provoking and engrossing exhibit on loan to the Aquarium of Niagara from the 5 Gyres Institute, debuts at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4.

The exhibit is an intense graphic display depicting the harmful effects of plastic on waterways and wildlife. It highlights the work done by the Alliance for Great Lakes.

This 5 Gyres Institute's mission is to engage people nationwide to restore healthy, plastic-free oceans

"We hope this exhibit and the lecture series convey the importance of how small local actions make for big time change," said Dan Arcara, Aquarium of Niagara supervisor of exhibits. "Each of us has an essential role to play in our environment, and this exhibit and series is a great place to start."

Nate Dragg, project coordinator for the Alliance for the Great Lakes, will deliver the first lecture in the three-part "Conservation Conversations" series. Light refreshments will be served.

The Aquarium of Niagara is located at 701 Whirlpool St., Niagara Falls.
