Viewer donations to Petfinder Foundation will be distributed to organizations that help rescue dogs
Actress, producer and animal advocate Hilary Swank and Michael Levitt are re-teaming with FOX to executive-produce the second annual "The All-Star Dog Rescue Celebration," a one-of-a-kind event celebrating America's rescue dogs. The special airs Thanksgiving night, Thursday, Nov. 26 (8 p.m.), on FOX.
Throughout the two-hour family-friendly event, celebrity guests will introduce the audience to adoptable rescue dogs and honor the people who dedicate their lives to caring for animals in need. "The All-Star Dog Rescue Celebration" also will raise awareness of dog-related issues and encourage people to adopt one of the more than 8 million rescue animals currently in the U.S. shelter system.
Viewers will be provided with information regarding adoptable animals in their local areas. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to make donations to the Petfinder Foundation, an independent nonprofit organization that supports shelters and rescue groups nationwide. Donations will be accepted during the broadcast and for a period of time after the show. Specific details regarding donations and featured charity organizations will be announced soon.
The successful inaugural two-hour adoption special, co-hosted by Swank and Jane Lynch, generated more than 4,500 adoption applications for the rescue dogs featured on the special. Participants included Channing Tatum, Scarlett Johansson, Miley Cyrus, Josh Duhamel, Fergie, Paula Abdul, Kristen Bell, Kristin Chenoweth, Whitney Cummings, Max Greenfield, Kathy Griffin, Julianne Hough, Randy Jackson, Kesha, Miranda Lambert, Queen Latifah, Cesar Millan, Jerry O'Connell, Kelly Osbourne, Sharon Osbourne, P!nk, Amber Riley, LeAnn Rimes, Rebecca Romijn, Emmy Rossum, Jenna Dewan-Tatum and Betty White.
The Petfinder Foundation assists the 12,000-plus animal shelters and rescue groups that post their adoptable pets on Petfinder.com. A nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, the Petfinder Foundation helps adoption organizations find homes for the pets in their care through its "Sponsor a Pet," disaster and emergency response, quality of life and other programs. Since its founding in 2003, the Petfinder Foundation has given more than $20 million in cash and product grants to shelters and rescue groups in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
