They made it to Albany! The amazing ladies of "Up the Lake," Ruthy Warda and Margaret Brant, safely and successfully walked from Lockport to Albany and returned. A staggering $10,000 was raised throughout their walk. Lockport CARES is truly grateful and blessed they chose us to bring about awareness for its cause of changing despair into hope.

"Thank you to all who participated," Lockport CARES stated. "These funds will help ensure a warm, safe shelter for the homeless in Lockport in the coming dark, cold winter months."

As a show of thanks for their determination and fortitude, Warda and Brant, pictured, were presented with bouquets of flowers at Lockport CARES Homeless Shelter, located at 192 Genesee St.

On the way to Albany.
