The Buffalo Zoo and MASH Urgent Care will expand their partnership to keep the Zoofari shuttle on the road during the winter months.
The shuttle launched this summer to transport zoo visitors from an ancillary parking lot on the Medaille College campus to the zoo, and to service the downtown tourism market. It will run during the off-season as a part of the MASH Urgent Care fleet.
The shuttle will transport patients, particularly children, from hospitals to their homes.
"We saw that the Zoofari design brought a lot of smiles to people who saw it out on the streets," Buffalo Zoo Marketing Manager Todd Geise said. "We decided to keep the shuttle running in the winter as a part of the MASH fleet to keep those smiles coming year-round. We're also delighted that the vehicle will serve as a moving billboard for the zoo while transporting patients."
As a part of the partnership, MASH Urgent Care also will have a presence on Buffalo Zoo grounds in the form of signage at the hoofstock collection, which it sponsors. The hoofstock collection includes zebra, reindeer, addax, gemsbok and roan antelope.
The Zoofari shuttle will resume its regular route to and from the Medaille parking lot for the 2016 season.
