Obit: Elisabeth Prast

Elisabeth Prast entered into rest Aug. 28, 2015, at age 98. She was a resident of Grand Island for 63 years.

The wife of the late Johannes Prast, she was the mother of Monika (the late John) Sikora, Thomas Prast and the late Martin Prast; grandmother of Christine (Rick) Muller, Mickie (David) Feeney, Deborah (Steve) Pomietlasz, Heidi (Eric) Gee and Heather (Bob) McDonnell. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Prast was an honorary member of the Golden Agers where she received a volunteer appreciation award. She delivered Meals on Wheals and was an active member of St. Stephen R.C. Church. She was a world traveler and an avid gardener. She was a member of the Western New York Weavers Guild and the Senior Citizen's Center.

Mrs. Prast was an oblate member of Mount Savior Monastery. She emigrated from Germany in 1948 and became an American citizen in 1955. In 2003, the board of directors of the National Law Enforcement Museum in Washington, D.C., recognized her as a founding member.

Visitation was held Monday, Aug. 31, at the Kaiser Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday at St. Stephen R.C. Church. Memorials may be made to Mt. Savior Monastery or St. Stephen's Church.
