After Labor Day, the Aquarium of Niagara will close at 5:30 p.m. with last admittance at 5 p.m. Daily opening is 9 a.m.
Additionally, the Aquarium of Niagara's well-loved animal programs have gone down in price.
"These education yet amazingly fun sessions will change the way you look at seals for the rest of your life," Executive Director Gay Molnar said. "It really is a once-in-a-lifetime experience."
Meet a Seal
Visitors who've interacted with one of the Aquarium of Niagara's playful trained seals tell staffers this is a can't-miss opportunity. This 20-minute session gives patrons a look at the care and training of marine mammals and an opportunity to touch, feed and play with one of the seals.
Prices were $55 a person; now they're $45, or $39 for Aquarium of Niagara members. Tours run at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Friday, Saturday. Participants must be at least 8 years old.
Behind the Scenes Tour
The last time you visited the Aquarium of Niagara, did you ever wonder what happens behind the scenes? The center's knowledgeable trainers can give you a guided half-hour where you'll learn how the staff works with the animals, how they make sea water, how many tons of fish the animals eat each year and other fun facts. You'll also go backstage to view one of the animals up close. When the tour concludes, you'll get reserved seating during the "Spirit of the Sea" sea lion show.
The price for this tour was $30 per person or $25 for members. Now, the price has been reduced to $10 per person or just $8 for members. Tours take place at 12:30 and 3 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday. (Ages 6 and up.)
Humboldt Penguin Interactive Program
Penguins are one of the most beloved animals at the Aquarium of Niagara. The Humboldt penguin interactive program, a unique, 20-minute session, is a rare opportunity to have a close encounter with one of these flightless birds. Experience an entertaining interaction with a penguin and gain an understanding about their care and what makes these animals remarkable.
Encounters were priced $75 each but the price is now $65 per person or $55 for each member (and groups of three or more pay even less). Meetings take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday-Sunday. (Ages 8 and up.)
