Fans who missed out on tickets to see Paul McCartney in concert can see the next best thing

The Center for the Arts, University at Buffalo, presents The McCartney Years: The Premier Paul McCartney Tribute, at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23. Tickets ($29.50) are on sale now.

The McCartney Years, which was booked by the Center for the Arts several months prior to last week's Paul McCartney concert announcement, celebrates the genius of McCartney in the mid-1970s. Praised by the late Beatles promoter Sid Bernstein - the man who brought the original Beatles to North America - as "the best on the scene today," The McCartney Years is a note-for-note, 100 percent live faithful recreation of a mid-1970s McCartney concert featuring the music of the Beatles and Wings.

Tom Burrows, executive director of the Center for the Arts stated, "It seems a bit serendipitous that Paul McCartney would plan to end his long absence from Buffalo the night prior to our previously announced concert by The McCartney Years, which is also making its Western New York premiere. Now his many fans who weren't able to secure tickets, as well as those who wish to keep their McCartney celebration going for another evening, can dance and sing along to their favorite songs in a concert that's both intimate and budget-friendly."

Whether he plays an original Beatles-era Höfner bass or sports the same wardrobe from the 'Wings over America' mid-1970s tour, Yuri Pool is true to Sir Paul in his musicianship, vocal stylings and presentation. And the band doesn't miss a beat transporting fans back to the first time they heard these great songs on vinyl.

Tickets are available at the Center for the Arts box office (10 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays) and tickets.com. To charge tickets, call 1-888-223-6000. Groups can call 716-645-6771. For more information, call 716-645-2787 or visit www.ubcfa.org or themccartneyyears.net.
