The annual Porter on the Lake Summerfest will be held from 3-9 p.m. Labor Day, Sept. 7. This family-fun event will feature food, vendors, beer/wine as well as local bands The Frame, 90 West and Strictly Hip.

Pony rides, a petting zoo, face-painting and a bounce house will be available free for children from 3-6 p.m. The evening will conclude with fireworks over Lake Ontario at dusk from Skylighters of New York.

Attendees are encouraged to attend the Youngstown Labor Day Parade at noon on Monday prior to Summerfest.

Event organizers Larry White (Town of Porter councilman) and Linda White and Jeff Baker (Town of Porter councilman) and Gloria Baker are working with the Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce and numerous volunteers to make this event a success. After two years with inclement weather, the committee decided to move the fundraiser to Labor Day.

The event will be held rain or shine. Admission is $5 per adult with children ages 12 and under admitted free.

All proceeds will go toward projects to improve Porter on the Lake Park.

Major sponsors include: CWM Chemical Services, Mark Cerrone Inc., Modern Corporation, Niagara Jet Adventures, Mawhiney Trucking, GHD/ Conestoga-Rovers & Associates and the Town of Porter.

Additional sponsors include DT Truesdell Trucking, First Niagara Bank, Fox Fences, Frey Electric Construction Co., Minuteman Press of Downtown Buffalo and the Ransomville Business Association.
