Work on the $51 million project is in the home stretch at Grand Island High School.

"It's moving right along," Principal Dan Quartley said.

Remodeling of both the high school gymnasium and the pool are underway. The pool will not be ready in time for the start of girls swimming and diving practice Aug. 17, so the Vikings will bus to Kenmore East every day for their workouts until the pool is ready.

Meanwhile, the front parking lot of the high school will be closed from Aug. 14 to 21. The high school advises students and families who need to access the high school to do so via the back parking lot.
