Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center has set Monday, Aug. 10, for the opening of Lewiston Primary Care, its sixth family medicine site serving Niagara and northern Erie counties.

Located at 4600 Military Road, Suite A, just south of the border between the towns of Lewiston and Niagara, the site has operated for many years as the medical office of Dr. Komal Chandan, a beloved family medicine physician who has served the community for 23 years.

Chandan is continuing to receive and treat patients there as a member of the Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center staff.

The Lewiston Primary Care Center will see several other changes in the future.

Stephen Uslinov, M.D., a board-certified family medicine physician, will begin seeing patients Aug. 10. In September, psychiatrist Lauren Uslinov, M.D., and psychiatric nurse practitioner Vivian Gerard will begin office hours.

Dr. Lauren Uslinov, who is married to Dr. Stephen Uslinov, is a former chief resident of the Hennepin County Medical Center-Regions Hospital Psychiatry Training Program in Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota, and a member of the American Psychiatric Association.

Gerard, a graduate of the SUNY Buffalo School of Nursing, has worked for Lakeshore Behavioral Health and the Chautauqua County Department of Mental Health. She is a former director of outpatient treatment at Northpointe Council Inc.

"The connection between emotional and physical wellbeing is irrefutable," said Memorial Vice President Sanjay Chadha, who oversees Memorial's primary care and outpatient mental health services. "Offering psychiatric services under the same roof as family medicine just makes good sense for holistic health."

Niagara Falls Memorial also operates primary care/family medicine offices in downtown Niagara Falls, Grand Island and North Tonawanda, along with two such offices at the Summit Healthplex in Wheatfield. To learn more, call 716-278-4569.
