Applications due Aug. 31

The Yahoo Community Benefit Fund is now accepting grant applications from nonprofit organizations for its 2015 grant cycle. Applications are due at 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 31, and are available for submission at cfgb.org/yahoo.

The fund, which will operate for seven years (from 2015-21), will award grants annually to organizations that are located in and/or serve Niagara County residents. Preference will be given to projects that are located in and/or benefit the Greater Lockport area. This year's grant cycle will prioritize applications that support the fund's five interest areas, including:

  • Family and community building
  • Youth education
  • Economic development
  • Environment
  • Animal welfare

Approximately $230,000 is available for the 2015 grant cycle. Grant awards are determined by the fund's resident advisory council, with decisions to be announced in late November.

Organizations that are interested in learning more about this grant application process are encouraged to attend the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo's grant briefing session from 10 a.m. until noon Friday, Aug. 7, at the Historic Palace Theatre, 2 East Ave., Lockport.

The Yahoo Community Benefit Fund was established in 2015 as part of Yahoo! Inc.'s agreement with the Empire State Development Corp. to open a customer care and data center in the Town of Lockport.
