Hanavan joins Summit sports medicine team

Family nurse practitioner John Hanavan has joined the Memorial Medical Center/UBMD Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine team at the Summit Healthplex in Wheatfield.

A graduate of D'Youville College and Albany Medical College, Hanavan has worked in primary care, sports medicine and occupational medicine for more than a quarter century and been affiliated with the University at Buffalo's football, basketball, wrestling and soccer teams for many years. He was the lead care provider for the former Buffalo Destroyers of the Arena Football League.

In his new role, Hanavan will work with patients, primary care providers and student athletes in Niagara and northern Erie counties.

Memorial Medical Center/UBMD Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine provides athletic training and sports medicine services to the Lewiston-Porter, Niagara Falls, Niagara Catholic, Niagara-Wheatfield, Grand Island, North Tonawanda, Tonawanda, Kenmore East and Kenmore West school districts and to Niagara County Community College.
