Heart of Niagara Animal Rescue's monthly volunteer meeting is 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, at Oppenheim Park, Pavilion No. 15, on Niagara Falls Boulevard in Niagara Falls. Agenda items include adoption updates and plans for the rescue's second annual summer picnic. That family-friendly event for owners and their dogs is set for Saturday, July 18.

The meeting is open to the public and new volunteers are always welcome. Any donations, including baskets and prizes for the picnic, or badly needed Science Diet or Purina One dog food donations, may be brought or dropped off at this meeting.

Heart of Niagara Animal Rescue is a 501(c) 3 not-for-profit animal rescue organization that rescues abandoned, unwanted and homeless animals and takes care of all their needs until such time as they are adopted into suitable homes. To date, volunteers have adopted out more than 320 animals.

HON operates solely on donations and the generosity of the public and business community. For more information, call 716-345-7129.
