The Aquarium of Niagara, celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, has new summer programs and extended hours beginning June 27. Open every day at 9 a.m., the venue is now open until 6:30 p.m. through Labor Day. Last admittance to the Aquarium of Niagara is 6 p.m.
The new excursions include a behind-the-scenes tour that shows how the Aquarium of Niagara functions, and how it integrates the core values of conservation, ecology and preservation into every aspect. Participants are guaranteed an interaction with one of the Aquarium of Niagara's marine mammals.
"These programs were designed to let our public get an intimate, informational backstage tour of what goes in to making the aquarium work, and also showcase the traits and personalities of our marine mammals," Deputy Director Gary Siddall said. "The purpose is to educate, excite and bring the aquarium directly to our visitors."
Another new excursion this summer is "Meet a Seal." Executive Director Gay Molnar said it's "a can't miss opportunity you'll always a remember. It's a rare chance to get up close and personal with one of our marine mammals."
